Anyone with some experience of raising equity capital will have come to understand that ‘pitching’ is just the beginning of what can be a lengthy journey. Assuming you have pitched, you have gained the interest of an investor, and they have offered you the full or partial ask, what happens next?
Essentially you then embark on a period of due diligence and the investor will issue you with a Terms Sheet; how do you best navigate this period and bring negotiations to a successful close for both parties?
To help us best understand this phase and to share investor insights, we are delighted to welcome Khalid Naqib, a seasoned investment professional currently working with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
In the first part of the session, Khalid will be exploring investor due diligence (Expectations beyond the pitch deck; Trust and full disclosure; Perceptions and preparation; Legal, Financial, Commercial, and Technical aspects to prepare for; and Timelines). Importantly, he will then help us understand the Term Sheet (Understanding what the investor is looking for/what they can offer; Understanding the instruments used; Negotiating whilst recognising the limits; Planning for the next phase).
This is a huge subject matter to cover so we anticipate there will be lots of Q&As please come prepared with yours to ensure you get the most value from your time with Khalid and your peers.
