Fermtech use biotechnology to create protein from the spent grains from breweries, creating a low carbon way of producing healthy and nutritious foods.
We take the spent grains from a brewery, and use a process called Solid State Fermentation (SSF) to grow protein-rich microorganisms. We then extract the protein from that mix and include it into products like vegan cheese.
Our vision – by 2028:
Save 50m tons of CO2 GHG equivalents per year by producing protein for >25,000 tons of animal-free cheese (saving >6,000 dairy cows).
